with Don Wood and Bill Boedecker at lunch today to discuss changes to the
Socorro ARES operation.
LEPC: Eric Albrecht reported that the Socorro
LEPC had attended the Volunteer Organizations Active in a Disaster (VOAD) meeting in
Albuquerque on January 21. This meeting schedule conflicts with the
regularly scheduled Socorro LEPC meetings so the LEPC meetings may be
rescheduled. NIMS Training is scheduled for Socorro: ICS 100 on
February 20 and ICS 200 on March 13. Both will be 8 AM to 5 PM at the County
Annex Building. Call Crystal at 835-2029 for more info.

instructors to come to Socorro are ongoing. The CERT program was
presented to one high school class by Doug and Jon Spargo.
Charter School: Jon Spargo brought
maps, catalogs, lanyards, etc. that had been contributed by ICOM for the
charter school students. This was available to those attending the
SARA meeting and the remaining materials were stored at the EOC. The
license course is proceeding. Attendees seem to have stabilized at
about 5 students. Jon proposed that an upcoming Wednesday
afternoon be set aside to do installation on whatever is available for the
School club
station. Jon suggested that $200 be dedicated by SARA for the purchase of
a radio and ground connection materials. Timing of the VE session was
discussed and late April was an acceptable consensus date for the exam.
Jim Boswell
moved to devote $200 for a VHF transceiver for the charter school club station. Leavitt seconded.
Motion passed by without opposition.

party event last weekend indicate that the antenna is malfunctioning badly.
Very few contacts could be made and signal reports from those were uniformly
poor. Discussion revolved around diagnosing and correcting the
problems. Kálmán Oravecz reported that the TARA station scored ~130
QSOs during morning operations.
