SARA NEWS
Minutes of Meeting
The following are excerpts from the minutes of the November meeting:
Jon, KC5NTW, will get a copy of the banquet menu from K-Bob's for publication in the December Newsletter
After payment of janitorial fees and a fee to Tech for use of tables and chairs, the Hamfest profit will be $441.00
Some discussion was made about Nick Fleming's kids and the job they did at the Hamfest versus what the 2 janitors actually did.
It was felt that because we were using the school it requires the janitors to be there. Dave, N1IRZ thought that we should talk
with Anna Mae at the Superintendent's office to arrange payment for the janitorial services. The bottom line is that Nick's kids
should be recognized and given credit for all they did.
Dave, N1IRZ, suggested that we should take a look at "tail-gaters" and possibly charging for them in the future. He said there
were about 20 set up, at no charge, and some people checked them out but never came in to check out the vendors inside.
There were suggestions for possibly using Parkview Elementary because it is centrally located and close to restaurants and going
back to Finlay for future Hamfests.
Dave, N1IRZ, suggested that we have a Hamfest committee that could meet, nail down place and firm date for the following
years Hamfest by mid-January. This would give sufficient time for getting vendors and possibly listing them in the flyer, letting
the Ham community know earlier of our intentions and it would enable us to draw a larger crowd.
Paul, NA5N, suggested that we coordinate with the Albuquerque club and possibly alternate every other year and have a Major
Hamfest.
Felix, W5BX, reported that the building on the mountain where Bob Sparks repeater is located needs some roof repair. Bill,
K8HUH, is donating some roofing paper and nails to facilitate the repairs.
Al, AC5BX, adjourned meeting at 9: 00 PM.
Annual Christmas Dinner
The Christmas dinner/meeting will be held at K-Bob's on Wednesday December 9th at 7:00 PM. This is an annual event where little
or no club business is conducted and the main purpose is good food, good camaraderie and an evening of relaxation. Attached to the
Newsletter this month is the menu that will be offered...You do not have to make reservations, just show up, Order-up and chow
down. Please note that all entrees are one price.$7.00 which includes drink (non-alcoholic), sales tax and gratuity. Where else can
you get a deal like this and have some good social intercourse at the same time. So put on your glad rags and come out for a night of
just plain fun.
